VOTE ON JULY 20th!!

If elected, I am determined to:

bulletImprove the decision-making structure.  Decisions must be made in a predictable and timely manner. Many agencies and many people rely on the smooth functioning of county government. The decision-making process must be clear, consistent, and understood by all affected.

bulletFacilitate genuine collaboration among all governmental entities.  True collaboration depends on honesty and mutual trust. Poor collaboration wastes county money, through strife, delay of public projects (such as schools, parks and senior centers), and inefficient use of government employees’ time. We must work together better to stretch our tax dollars.

bulletExpand economic development, carefully targeted to appropriate areas.  We need to enhance our tax base in the right way. We need to have right types of employers in the appropriate locations. We can protect our environment and preserve farmland, while creating new jobs within the county for Orange County residents and easing the tax burden on individual property owners. Orange County’s economic development efforts need more energy and clearer focus.

bulletEnsure effective and efficient funding for both school districts. I will work to ensure that every Orange County student has access to the best educational opportunities. I will advocate for appropriate school funding while maintaining local control of district operations through the elected school boards.

I am committed to winning this election. Why? Because I want tomorrow’s citizens, today’s children, to be proud of the decisions that the Orange County Commissioners make. I promise to vote with the knowledge that my voice matters not just today but into the future. I promise to vote to preserve what is good and change what needs to be changed. Specifically, I will work to get voter approved facilities built and available to the people of our county on time.
